The King Baudouin Foundation United States (KBFUS) facilitates thoughtful, effective giving across borders. For the past 20 years, the organization has served as a knowledgeable bridge between American donors and nonprofits overseas. Over the past three years, KBFUS facilitated over $210 million in grants, providing much needed funding to hundreds of nonprofits across the globe, working in a broad range of fields.
Minimums, fee schedule and timing
If a foreign organization has established a Friends Fund with KBFUS, Fidelity Charitable donors can recommend grants to KBFUS to further support those Friends Funds. To learn which nonprofits already have KBFUS Friends Funds, browse the full directory of funds here.
If KBFUS does not have an established Friends Fund with the nonprofit, KBFUS may be able to facilitate a one-off donation to that organization for grants above $5,000, subject to the organization completing the KBFUS due diligence requirement. Please contact KBFUS directly at email@example.com to learn if a nonprofit is eligible and let them know that you would like to donate from your Fidelity Charitable Giving Account.
KBFUS’s fees for established Friends Funds are a contribution-based fee model, in which an administrative fee is charged based on the number of dollars raised by the organization over a calendar year. There is no minimum grant size for a pre-established Friends Fund.
Grants for established Friends Funds typically reach organizations within 3-4 weeks after grant receipt. Grants for new organizations typically require 4+ weeks, though timelines may extend depending on the foreign beneficiary’s responsiveness.
Minimum Grant: $0
KBFUS’s fees for one-off donations through KBFUS are based on the dollar amount of the grant, in which the administrative fee is charged based upon the size of the grant provided by the donor.
