When your children express interest in helping others, help them get started. Don’t force it, but if your son or daughter is interested in volunteering with you as a parent-child team, why not let them decide how to do it? Lay out three options you’d be interested in as well: explain the organizations’ missions, the hours of commitment and the role you both could serve, and then let them choose. (Tip: Consider doing this with each child in your family individually, as one-on-one time they’ll never forget.)
It’s possible to start supporting those charities right now. Use your Giving Account to set up a recurring grant recommendation to your child’s top charity of choice. (Need help narrowing down the options within a cause they’ve identified? Use our charity research tools to find the perfect fit.)
